#3 Barren Field

I don't know where I'm going.

I just feel so alone.

I'm standing here in a barren field,

while all the other kids are home.

They are eating Mother's cooking,

'round a table filled with cheer,

while I stand here in a barren field

and not another soul is near.

Take me home. Make me a home.

Is it so wrong to wanna feel safe and warm?

Take me home. Make me a home. I want to belong.

Give me a home.

Other children's hearts are dancing

from their fathers' jokes and sighs.

I'm so far now from my father's heart.

The only heart that beats here is mine

Home is where those kids will sleep now,

with a kiss, and a soft "sleep well, goodnight"

But I can't sleep in this barren field

with no place to rest my head tonight

Take me home. Make me a home.

Is it so wrong to wanna feel safe and warm?

Take me home. Make me a home. I want to belong.

And I don't want to be alone.

Just want to be loved.

Please,

Give me a home.

#2 Questions

Did you know where you were going, when you got there?

Did you find what you were looking for, or don't you care?

Are you happy with the things that surround you?

Or does everything about you confound you? Astound you?

Are you where you're supposed to be?

Are you living the life that for you was meant to be?

Did you get off the path you were on?

Is it too late to get back on?

What can you do about it now? Are you too weighted down to fly?

Are you too scared to try?

What will you find around the bend, or have you finally reached the end?

Can you turn around? Are all your choices bound?

Did you know that your turn to be young might go unsung?

Did you find your picture of perfection could never be hung?

Were you certain time would run on right beside you?

Have you searched the sky to find a star to guide to? To cry to?

Are you where you're supposed to be?

Are you living the life that for you was meant to be?

Did you get off the path you were on?

Is it too late to get back on?

Is it too late to find the path you were on?

Is it too late to mind the path you're on?

Is it too late to find the path you were on?

Is it too late to mind the path you're on?

Is it too late?

Is it too late?

Is it too late?

Backup vocals - Curtis King Jr. & Lynette Perry

My deepest thanks:

To all the incredible musicians who played on this album:

Peter Calo, Phil Hall, Aaron Heick, Rob Morsberger, Lisa Parker, Peter Donovan, Francisco Centeno, Clint de Ganon, Joe Mowatt, Peter Prosser,  Sandra Robbins, Tim Ouimette... WHAT A BAND!!!

To all the amazing singers who sang on this album:

Curtis King Jr., Lynette Perry, Laurie Gayle Stevenson,

Doug LaBrecque, Gary Mauer, Sal Viviano....

WHAT A CHOIR OF ANGELS!!!

To my Aunt Lil...who gave me the poem that my Uncle Wally wrote for her when she was sweet 16. The poem inspired me to write the song "Lily's Lilt" and reconnected me to my songwriting roots. Aunt Lil's spunk, and her brother's/my father's spirit are what propelled this CD into being.

To my cousin Barry Dujlovich for asking me to musicalize 2 poems from his autobiography "Branko's Ride", written by his coauthor Michael Goodreau. "Barren Field" and "Immigrant's Anthem" bookend Barry's amazing journey from orphaned Croatian refugee, to successful American citizen. His life exemplifies the phrase...Its never too late to be who you are.

To Billy Misik for showing me how to live each day with passion and dignity.  His inspiration and presence were felt throughout the making of this CD.

To Robert Felstein, Sean Swinney & Joe Price for helping me begin this process, and to Peggy O'Neill my life coach, for helping me to figure out my "preferred future".... This is it!!!

To "eagle ears" Phil Hall for helping me get my songs out of my head and into the air. His special talents made this whole project possible.

To Peter Calo.... mind reader, virtuoso man, collaborator extraordinaire. Working with you " is all good!". There will never be enough thank yous for you. Dziekuje!

To my Rino Li Causi..."I knew that I would love you, from the moment I looked in your eyes!". Thank you Stonghi for all your love, collaboration and for sharing your artist's life with me.

To my mom Betty, for her unwavering support, love and for teaching me how to write songs when I was a little girl by her example. Her songs ... " I Don't Smoke My Thumb Anymore" and "90 Jillion Geraniums" are what inspired me to believe that I could write songs too! This CD is dedicated to you Mom!

#1 When I was a little girl...

When I was a little girl, I liked to sing

I'd swing in the breeze and sing to the trees

and they'd always applaud 'cause the wind liked my song

In the fall they would all sing along

And I knew I was good, or at least I was loud

The swing was my stage and the forest my crowd

When I was a little girl, I liked to sing.....

#4 /Country Lilt

I once had a heart that was tender and true

But now its gone from me to you

Take care of dear as I have done

For now you have two and I have none

Yes I really truly do believe

That God delivered you to me

He picked you out from all of the rest

Because he knew I would love you best

If I get to heaven and you’re not there

I’ll paint your face on a heavenly stair

So all of the angels can look and see

Just what you really mean to me

Yes I really truly do believe

That God delivered you to me

He picked you out from all of the rest

Because he knew I would love you best

So if you’re not waiting at the pearly gate

I won’t have to think or even hesitate

I’ll give all the angels back their wings

Their golden harps and all of their things

Yes if you’re not in heaven on judgment day

I’ll know you’ve gone the other way

So to show you that my love is true.........

I’ll go to hell dear just for you

Yes I really truly do believe

That God delivered you to me

He picked you out for me from all of the rest

Because he knew that I would love you best

I really do, I really do,

I really do love you the best

#5 I Am Released!

Billy’s Song

I am released! Now I can fly!

Our Father’s next to me, conducting a symphony

I’m singing proud with the choir of angels

If you listen to the breeze you will hear me sing!

My body left me, pain and struggle too

But I’m alive in a way that’s new

Now I can travel anywhere I please

You may not see me, but listen to the breeze

I am released! Now I can fly!

Our Father’s next to me, conducting a symphony

I’m singing proud with the choir of angels

Just listen to the breeze you will hear me sing

For I am song! I am music!

The sparkling tune and blows out on the seas

I am a part of the purpose that makes all harmonies

I did my best to hang around

But I guess my song wasn’t on the ground

It’s way up here with the choir of angels

Now I’m singing strong!

Won’t you sing along?

I am released! Now I can fly!

Our Father’s next to me, conducting a symphony

I’m singing proud with the choir of angels

So listen to the breeze, rustling through the trees

Then you’ll know I am with you

I.... am Released!

Translation:

Its Going to Rain

I sense something ... It’s going to rain

I know you don’t believe me, but its going to rain

Listen to the wind... how it sings

Let's go, let’s go.... It’s going to rain

The world is changing.... It will change, it will change

And one must change, or one must dream

Life is changing.... It’s going to rain, it's going to rain

I will cry, I will cry... when the dream will end

Give me your hand... it’s going to rain

So now you believe me...  Time is changing

Listen to the thunder... how it sings

Let's go, let’s go... It’s going to rain

The world is changing.... It will change, it will change

And one must change, or one must dream

Life is changing.... It’s going to rain, its going to rain

I will cry I will cry... when the dream will end

#7 Give Me Back My Life

You tell me that we are through

You tell me, you found someone new

Well this can’t be, I am still your wife....

Give me back my life

Give me back my life

We agreed, with or without wealth

We agreed, that in sickness or health

We would be, for better or worse.....

Take away this curse

Take away this curse

You can tear all the pieces apart

But you can’t tear the beat from my heart

How can you leave our life and home

How can I live our life alone

Without a you....

Now I know times haven’t always been good

and I know I haven’t always understood

But won’t you please at least let me try.....

Take away this lie

Take away this lie

You can tear all the pieces apart

But you can’t tear the beat from my heart

How can you leave our life and home

How can I live our life alone

Without you....

Now I can see that the ocean is wide

But I believe that our love hasn’t died

So won’t you please come and stay by my side

Give me back my pride

Give me back my pride

Cause this can’t be, I am still your wife

Give me back my life

Give me back my life

Give me back my life

Give me back my life

Give me back my life

Give me back my life

#8 I Didn’t Know

I knew that I would love you from the moment I looked in your eyes

And I knew that you would love me that was really no surprise

And I knew that we’d have problems along the way as we would go

But I didn’t know I’d miss you so

I knew we’d fit together, that our bodies would be as one

And that we’d laugh forever, I could tell you were such fun

And I knew that you were frightened and we’d have to take it slow

But I didn’t know I’d miss you so

I miss you in the morning

and I miss you in the day

I miss you more at sunset time

But most of all I miss you

when I’m lying in my bed

without your shoulder ‘neath my head

No I didn’t know I’d miss you so

I thought I thought it through. I knew our love was true

I knew you were the one for me, and I the one for you

I thought I knew it all, but then that’s just my way

and they say its what you learn after you know it all

that gets you through the day

I knew I'd have to leave, and I knew you'd have to stay

and that we would be parted but I thought it’d be okay

yes I knew it wouldn’t be easy, leaving you would be a blow

But I didn’t know I’d miss you so

I miss you in the morning

and I miss you in the day

I miss you more at sunset time

But most of all I miss you

when I’m lying in my bed

without your shoulder ‘neath my head

No I didn’t know I’d miss you so

No I didn’t know I’d miss you so

#9 Immigrants' Anthem

When I see my fellow men,

Americans, just like me

We share a common goal, within our soul...

To be free

And Glory flies above us all

Freeing us from the past

We’re united strong

We are where we belong

In America.... Free at last!

We were born on distant shores

From many different lands

We came to join the dream, to add our voice

and lend our hands

Now Glory flies above us all

Freeing us all from the past

We’re united strong

We are where we belong

In America.... Free at last!

Allegiance rising from dawn’s early light

Bright stars and stripes shining

In red, blue and white

With liberty and justice and for all they can bring

We come now together and all sing

Let freedom ring!

And now ole Glory flies above us all

Freeing us all from the past

We're united strong

We are where we belong

In America ...Free at last!

America, America, America

Let Freedom Ring!

Now ole Glory flies above us all

Freeing us all from the past

We’re united strong

We are where we belong

In America...We're free in America

We’re all Americans

Free.... at last !

#10 Never Too Late

It is never too late to begin

Never to late to become what you began to be

Before you wrote your history

Remember now if you can when you first had a plan

And everything seemed so possible

Before you were so responsible for all that you can’t understand

No its never too late to begin

Never too late to apologize to dreams

For abandoning all their hopes and schemes

No matter how long you’ve waited

Its never too late to begin

Don’t fret about the finish

Realize the race is the prize

At every finish line a new race begins

So who ever wins anyway?

Start today!

It is never too late to begin

Never too late to reverse the course and take control

Of what you feel in your heart and soul

No matter how long you’ve waited or hesitated

The journey is not so far

No its never too late to begin to be who you are

It is never too late to be who you are
